Natasha Desborough
Weekend
Breakfast Show Presenter for BBC 6 Music
Natasha's
Biography
Natasha Desborough presents Natasha’s Weekend Breakfast
Show for BBC 6 Music. Natasha is a highly sought after voiceover
artist and is currently ‘the voice’ of BBC 6 Music
and The A-List. Her distinctive ‘sexy’ tones have
led to her voicing: Army Wives for Channel 4, Freshmen on Campus
for Trouble TV, The London Programme for ITV and California
Escorts and Real Sex for FIVE. Natasha has appeared as a cultural
pundit on programmes including the Richard & Judy Show,
BBC 3’s Liquid News, FIVE’s Britain’s Favourite
… series and on SKY’s Behaving Badly series.
Natasha began her music career as Programme Controller for Crystal
Palace FC's own radio station, where she was responsible for
producing, scripting and coordinating the station's programming.
From there she moved to Invicta FM, where her husky tones and
wicked sense of risqué fun livened up late night listening
in Kent.
Joining
XFM in central London, Natasha fronted the late night Chill
Out Room until her fast-rising popularity earned her the chair
of the Breakfast Session alongside guest presenter Iain Lee.
4am starts proved no barrier to Natasha's style and wit –
but it did prove very bad for a social life and gigs!
From
2003, Natasha fused music with football for Saturday afternoons
and music with comedy for Sunday mornings - writing and co-presenting
with Perrier Award nominated comedian Jimmy Carr.
In
2005 Natasha made an emotive documentary for BBC Inside Out
on the rising rate of caesarean births.
Natasha
described the move to BBC 6 Music’s ‘Weekend Breakfast
Show’ in 2005 as the best of both worlds, she says; ‘I
get to be mummy to Oscar in the week – going to ‘Caterpillar
Music’ and devising games and stories to interest my son
and his friends. And then at the weekends I get to let rip on
the radio playing out the best music. I also get to dress up
as my alter-ego ‘Mortasha Daughter of Darkness’
and do things like molest Wayne Hussey on air! The Weekend Breakfast
Show manages to raise a smile early in the morning with bizarre
features such as ‘This is Hard Choral’ (the UK wide
search to find a kid’s choral version of a 6 Music song)
‘Tash in The Attic’, ‘Mullet Over’ and
‘The Class of…’
Not
content with simply being a 'voice' on the radio, Natasha is
also a well respected radio producer, having produced all her
own shows on XFM. She has recently formed a radio & TV production
company.
Natasha also writes about motherhood and juggling career and
home. She is currently writing a book of children’s stories.
